چکیده

Abstract The common beech ( Fagus sylvatica L.) is the main forest-forming species in Slovakia and its share accounts for over 31% of total forest area this country. Recently, there are more reports deterioration health Europe, incl. as a result action pathogens genus Phytophthora . aim study to confirm presence forests Slovakia. Ten plots central western were selected study. of: P. x cambivora , cactorum plurivora Globisporangium macrosporum G. heterothallicum was confirmed samples taken. A pathogenicity test performed Koch’s postulates. After three months, plants gently taken out, then: pathogen reisolated from roots tissues, root systems scanned image analyzed with WinRhizo software, finally dried obtaining dry biomass. Additionally, during course experiment, degree infection assessed weekly order calculate under disease-progress curve. conducted research showed greatest threat In variant, symptoms plant dieback observed fastest, well pathogen, compared control significantly damaged systems.

Studies on European beech (Fagus sylvatica L

Colour parameters of European beech were measured using CIELab system. 103 logs from 87 trees in 9 sites were cut into boards to study the variations of wood colour parameters. Both site and tree effect on colour were observed. Patterns of red heartwood occurrence were defined. When excepting red heartwood there was still a highly significant effect of site and tree; differences remained after ...

Predicting red heartwood formation in beech trees (Fagus sylvatica L.)

Beech-forests (Fagus sylvatica L.) represent the natural vegetation cover for the majority of sites in Germany. Although coniferous forests actually dominate, beech is the most important among the deciduous tree-species in Germany, when considering the area and the economics. While the wood of the younger beech normally shows a whitish colour (white beech), the timber of older beech may form co...

Root biomass and biomass increment in a beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) stand in North-East France

This study is part of a larger project aimed at quantifying the biomass and biomass increment of an experimental beech stand aged 30 years, and comparing the carbon sequestration in trees to carbon fluxes. The below ground part of trees is expected to play an important role in carbon sequestration. A method has been developed to estimate the biomass and biomass increment of coarse, small and fi...

Draft genome of the oomycete pathogen Phytophthora cactorum strain LV007 isolated from European beech (Fagus sylvatica)

Phytophthora cactorum is a broad host range phytopathogenic oomycete. P. cactorum strain LV007 was isolated from a diseased European Beech (Fagus sylvatica) in Malmö, Sweden in 2016. The draft genome of P. cactorum strain LV007 is 67.81 Mb. It contains 15,567 contigs and 21,876 predicted protein-coding genes. As reported for other phytopathogenic Phytophthora species, cytoplasmic effector prote...

Variation in Ecophysiological Traits and Drought Tolerance of Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) Seedlings from Different Populations

Frequency and intensity of heat waves and drought events are expected to increase in Europe due to climate change. European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) is one of the most important native tree species in Europe. Beech populations originating throughout its native range were selected for common-garden experiments with the aim to determine whether there are functional variations in drought stress ...
